Gordy Gundaker Grabs Top Ten in Kokomo Opener; Sees Rain in Finale

The #11 GGR team made their way to Kokomo Speedway in Kokomo, Indiana on July 31-August 1 to compete in the inaugural running of the 'Hoosier Dirt Shootout.' The World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series presided over the mega-event, which drew a stellar field of racecars to the Hoosier State venue for the two-day extravaganza. On Friday night, Gordy Gundaker timed in tenth fastest in Group B during the qualifying session and later moved up one position during during the $2,500 to win preliminary feature to land in the ninth finishing position after 25-laps. Unfortunately, Saturday's inaugural 'Hoosier Dirt Shootout' headliner, which was scheduled to boast a lucrative $25,000 payday, was washed out after heavy rainfall. Gundaker Gets Another Top Five Against Summer Nationals Foes!

The GGR Motorsports team competed in one lone event over the weekend, as they invaded Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Missouri on Friday night, July 24 for a DIRTcar Summer Nationals showdown. Gordy Gundaker posted the third fastest lap in his group during the qualifying session before running third in his stacked heat race. After rolling off from the outside of the fourth row in the $10,000 to win main event, Gordy worked his way past a trio of competitors during the 40-lap race to land a solid fifth place performance behind only race winner Brian Shirley, Jesse Stovall, Billy Moyer, and Frank Heckenast, Jr.! Gordy's Fourth Place Effort at Highland Highlights Hectic Week!

Gordy Gundaker and his #11 team were busy from July 14-19, as they entered a quartet of high-profile races across the states of Indiana, Illinois, and Missouri. Gordy's best finish came on Saturday evening at Highland Speedway in Highland, Illinois, as he blasted past eight competitors during the $10,250 to win 'Aggressive 50' to place fourth in the final finishing order of the DIRTcar Summer Nationals special behind only race winner Jason Feger, Bobby Pierce, and Shannon Babb. On Tuesday night in another "Hell Tour" showdown at Plymouth Speedway in Plymouth, Indiana, Gordy grabbed the fourth transfer spot through his heat race before climbing to seventh in the $5,000 to win headliner.

Other finishes for the week included a sixteenth place performance in a $12,000 to win Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series special on Friday at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois and a fourteenth place showing in a $5,000 to win Summer Nationals showdown on Sunday at Randolph County Raceway in Moberly, Missouri. Gundaker Wins $10,000 in Summer Nationals Stop at FALS!!!

St. Charles, Missouri ace Gordy Gundaker found himself celebrating in a big way on Saturday evening, July 11 at Fairbury Speedway in downtown Fairbury, Illinois, as he secured his fifth victory of the 2020 season and his fourth career DIRTcar Summer Nationals triumph! After timing in fourth fastest in Group A during qualifying and salvaging a fourth place effort in his loaded heat race, Gordy started the 50-lap main event from the inside of the eighth row. "The G Man" then put on a show in front of the FALS faithful during the headliner, as he worked the bottom of the racy oval to perfection in picking off car after car. Gordy eventually passed leader Shannon Babb with a handful of laps remaining and drove off from the field to pocket the $10,000 windfall ahead of Rick Eckert, Shannon Babb, Brian Shirley, and Ryan Unzicker!

A night earlier, the #11 team was in the pit area at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois on Friday for another $10,000 to win DIRTcar Summer Nationals battle. Gordy suffered problems in preliminary action and eventually relied on a provisional to gain access into the 40-lapper. He was then able to steer past nine competitors during the feature to land in the twelfth finishing position. Gordy won his heat race from the fourth starting position and later led from flag-to-flag in the 25-lap weekly main event to score the $1,200 payday over Billy Laycock, Kolby Vandenbergh, Michael Kloos, and Jason Riggs. Earlier in the week, the #11 team rolled into Fairbury Speedway in downtown Fairbury, Illinois on Wednesday for a special $5,000 to win DIRTcar Racing program. For the second straight weekend, Gordy Gundaker found victory lane at Federated Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Missouri on Saturday evening, June 20! Gordy started ninth in his heat race and drove up to the second spot, which landed him on the pole of the 25-lap weekly feature event. The St. Charles, Missouri ace then led each and every circuit of the contest to bag the $1,200 winner's check ahead of his brother Trevor Gundaker, Jeff Herzog, David Jumper, and Paul Roider!

Earlier in the doubleheader weekend, the #11 team was in action on Friday night, June 19 at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois in a similar $1,200 to win weekly show. Gundaker Gets First Win of 2020 Season After Starting Tenth!

The GGR Motorsports team celebrated in victory lane for the first time in 2020 on Saturday night, June 13 at Federated Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Missouri! After running fourth in his heat race and rolling off from the outside of the fifth row, Gordy Gundaker put on a great show during the 25-lap weekly Super Late Model headliner. Gordy blasted to the front of the field to claim the $1,200 payday ahead of Rusty Griffaw, Mark Voigt, Scott Schmitt, and Daryn Klein.

Earlier in the weekend on Friday evening, June 12 at Randolph County Raceway in Moberly, Missouri, a $3,000 top prize was on the line in a Lucas Oil MLRA Series showdown. Gordy clicked off the seventh quickest lap in Group A during qualifying prior to grabbing the fourth transfer spot through his stacked heat race. Unfortunately, overheating issues caused the St. Charles, Missouri ace to retire early in the 40-lap main event and relegated him to a seventeenth place feature showing. Gordy advanced four spots in his heat race to finish third and later started the $1,200 to win main event from the outside of the second row. The St. Charles, Missouri ace then battled hard for a top five showing in the 25-lap headliner and eventually crossed underneath the checkers in the fourth position - his best finish of 2020 - behind only victor Daryn Klein, Billy Moyer, and Tim Manville!
