Gundaker Advances into $10,000 World 100 Prelim at Eldora Speedway
(October 14, 2018)
Over a month removed from the original 'World 100' date, the completion of the rain-postponed crown jewel spectacular took place on October 12-13 at the hallowed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. Action was scheduled to start on Friday evening at the "Big E" with a pair of $10,000 to win Twin 25s, but additional inclement weather pushed back the preliminary program to Saturday afternoon. Gordy Gundaker placed sixth in his loaded heat race prior to grabbing the third transfer spot through his B-Main. In the 25-lap daytime affair, Gordy started and finished in the twenty-second position.

Following a several hour break to clear the grandstands and rework the racetrack, the nighttime portion of the day/night doubleheader took place on Saturday evening and all eyes were focused on capturing the $51,000 top prize in the 48th edition of the 'World 100.' Gordy finished eleventh in his stacked heat race and later advanced up to seventh in his B-Main. Unfortunately, the St. Charles, Missouri ace was unable to make the start in the 100-lapper that was eventually won by Tim McCreadie. Gordy Gundaker Lands on Podium in Mod Mania Weekend Finale!

Gordy Gundaker and his #11 team invaded Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois from September 27-29 for the annual running of 'Mod Mania,' which also featured a trio of DIRTcar Super Late Model specials. On Thursday in the $2,000 to win opener, Gordy suffered mechanical problems all night long and a broken A-Frame early in the main event dropped him to twenty-first in the final finishing order. At Granite City on Friday evening, Gordy earned Fast Time honors during the qualifying session, won his heat race, and later finished seventh in the $2,500 to win headliner. On Saturday night in the $3,000 to win weekend finale, the St. Charles, Missouri ace ran third in his heat race, but later blasted past a handful of competitors during the 35-lapper to score an impressive third place podium effort behind only victor Brian Shirley and runner-up Chris Simpson. Gundaker Close Runner-Up in Weekend Tilts at Area Tracks!

The GGR Motorsports team traveled to a pair of area tracks over the September 21-22 weekend to compete in $1,200 to win weekly Super Late Model events. On Friday night at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois, Gordy Gundaker timed in second fastest in his group during qualifying, ran second in his heat race, and later placed second in the A-Main behind only victor Rickey Frankel. At Federated Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Missouri on Saturday evening, Gordy finished second in his heat race and led the first five circuits in the headliner before nabbing another runner-up performance behind only race winner Tim Manville. Gordy Gundaker Endures Soggy World 100 Weekend at Eldora

Next up on the racing calendar for the #11 team was the 48th running of the famous 'World 100,' which was scheduled to run on the high-banks of Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio from September 6-8. With the rainy remnants of Tropical Storm Gordon postponing all of the action on Friday and Saturday until October 12-13, Gordy Gundaker competed in only his $10,000 to win Twin 25 at the "Big E" on Thursday night. After rain showers pushed back the program until the wee hours of Friday morning, Gordy finished fifth in his stacked heat race and led most of his B-Main until a late caution helped drop him back to fourth. Gundaker Runner-Up in Thursday Night Thunder at Granite City!

Gordy Gundaker, of St. Charles, Missouri, made the short trek to Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois on Thursday, August 30 for a special $2,000 to win program for the UMP Super Late Models. Gordy knocked down the quickest lap in his group during qualifying and won his heat race to earn the pole position for the A-Main. Gordy then ran in the second spot through much of the distance before hitting an inside tractor tire while racing for the lead. Fortunately, Gordy was able to hang on to record an impressive runner-up performance behind only victor Michael Kloos! Gordy Gundaker Twelfth in Dirt Million Duel at Mansfield
(August 26, 2018)
The GGR Motorsports team made their way to the pristine Mansfield Motor Speedway in Mansfield, Ohio on August 24-25 to compete in the inaugural running of the highly-publicized 'Dirt Million.' The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned the two-day spectacular, which kicked off on Friday night with a pair of $10,000 to win 'Dirt Million' duels. Gordy Gundaker qualified well before finishing eighth in his loaded heat race and fifth in his B-Main. After receiving a Fast Time provisional to gain access into the 30-lap duel, Gordy picked off ten competitors on his way to a steady twelfth place performance.

A huge standing-room-only crowd was then on hand to witness the largest paying Super Late Model show of 2018 on Saturday, as a whopping nearly $203,000 winner's check was up for grabs. Gordy placed sixth in his stacked heat race and eighth in his B-Main. Gundaker Grabs Top Ten in $10,000 #FALS Frenzy at Fairbury!

Gordy Gundaker returned to racing action on August 10-11 in a pair of MARS Racing Series tilts at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois and Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois. On Friday night at Granite City, Gordy ran second in his heat race had had a solid run going early in the $5,000 to win main event until left rear suspension problems on lap five dropped him to twenty-first in the final finishing order. At Fairbury on Saturday in the $10,000 to win #FALS Frenzy, Gordy once again finished second in his heat race before falling back to as far as sixteenth in the running order of the 50-lapper. Gordy Gundaker Transfers into $30k Prairie Dirt Classic at FALS!

The 29th edition of the 'Prairie Dirt Classic' took center stage over the July 27-28 weekend at Fairbury American Legion Speedway in downtown Fairbury, Illinois. On Friday night, Gordy Gundaker knocked down the tenth fastest lap in Group B during World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series qualifying prior to running fifth in his $2,500 to win qualifying feature. Following a win in his consolation race on Saturday evening, Gordy started the 100-lap 'Prairie Dirt Classic' from the inside of the ninth row. The St. Charles, Missouri ace then moved forward in the $30,000 to win affair to earn a respectable twelfth place performance in the extra-distance contest. Following the completion of the UMP Summer Nationals, Gordy Gundaker jumped back into racing action on July 20-21 in a pair of $1,200 to win weekly shows at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois and Federated Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Missouri. On Friday night at Granite City, Gordy timed in second fastest in his group during qualifying prior to finishing second in his heat race and third in the A-Main behind only victor Michael Kloos and runner-up Billy Moyer, Jr. At Pevely on Saturday evening, Gordy placed second in his heat race and led the majority of the feature event before winding up a strong second behind only race winner Michael Kloos. (July 12, 2018)
The "Hell Tour" soldiered on tonight at I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Michigan with the inaugural running of the 'Dan Salay Memorial,' which boasted another $5,000 payday. Gordy Gundaker unfortunately suffered more motor problems during hot laps and later took a provisional to gain access into the 40-lap main event. Driving Rusty Schlenk's back-up machine, Gordy retired from the race shortly before the halfway mark and was dropped to twenty-second in the final finishing order. The decision was made following the event to skip the final two UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals shows at Oakshade due to the recent string of mechanical problems.

(July 11, 2018) The #11 GGR Motorsports team rolled north to Thunderbird Raceway in Muskegon, Michigan tonight for another $5,000 to win UMP Summer Nationals showdown. Gordy Gundaker stopped the clock second fastest in Group A during qualifying before scoring another victory in his loaded heat race. After drawing the third starting position in the 40-lap feature event, Gordy was running in the third spot before a broken axle unfortunately sent him pitside and relegated him to a disappointing nineteenth place performance.

(July 10, 2018) Next up on the UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals tour was a stop at Shadyhill Speedway in Medaryville, Indiana for another $5,000 to win shootout. Gordy Gundaker was back behind the wheel of his own #11 Black Diamond Chassis and posted the fastest lap in his group during time trials. Following a victory in heat race action, Gordy started the 40-lap main event from the pole position and eventually wound up fourth in the final finishing order - partly due to left front suspension issues. He trailed only winner Frank Heckenast, Jr., Rusty Schlenk, and Billy Moyer at the drop of the checkered flag!

(July 9, 2018) The rain-postponed UMP Summer Nationals stop at Lincoln Speedway in Lincoln, Illinois took place earlier tonight and another $5,000 payday was on the line. Gordy Gundaker, who was armed with his brother Trevor's Crate Late Model once again, qualified fifth quickest in his group during time trials and later placed sixth in his loaded heat race. The St. Charles, Missouri ace then moved up two position during the course of the 40-lapper to leave Lincoln with a tenth place outing.

(July 8, 2018) A rough racetrack greeted the cars and stars of the UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals tonight at Quincy Raceway in Quincy, Illinois. A total of 22 entrants signed into the pit area to vie for the $5,000 top prize. Gordy Gundaker laid down the third quickest time in his group during qualifying prior to grabbing the third transfer spot through his heat race. After rolling off from the inside of the fourth row in the 40-lap contest, Gordy unfortunately broke a fan blade in the feature, which dropped him to a disappointing fifteenth place finish.

(July 7, 2018) The GGR Motorsports team trekked to Highland Speedway in Highland, Illinois tonight for another $10,000 to win battle on the grueling UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals tour. After borrowing a powerplant, Gordy Gundaker timed in second fastest in his group during qualifying before picking up an impressive heat race triumph. Gordy then started the 40-lapper from the outside of the front row and ran amongst the leaders throughout the distance en route to a third place podium effort behind only victor Chad Zobrist and runner-up Shannon Babb!

(July 6, 2018) Following last night's big win, the UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals tour rolled into Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, Illinois tonight for a $10,000 to win shootout. Gordy Gundaker unfortunately blew a motor during the qualifying session and was forced to jump behind the wheel of his brother Trevor's Crate Late Model for the 40-lap feature. After utilizing a provisional, Gordy rallied past six competitors to salvage a thirteenth place showing at the 1/4-mile bullring.

(July 5, 2018) Gordy Gundaker, of St. Charles, Missouri, recorded his first UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals triumph of his young racing career tonight at the mighty Macon Speedway in Macon, Illinois! Gordy started off the evening by posting the second fastest lap in his group during qualifying before scoring the victory in his stacked heat race. Following a second place run in the dash, Gordy started the 38th edition of the 'Herald & Review 100' from the outside of the front row. He then took the lead briefly on several different occasions during the 100-lapper before assuming the point for good on the 94th circuit. (July 4, 2018) The #11 GGR team celebrated the 4th of July holiday with fireworks and racing action tonight in a $5,000 to win "Hell Tour" event at Fayette County Speedway in Brownstown, Illinois. Gordy Gundaker stopped the clock fourth quickest in his group during time trials before placing fourth in his loaded heat race. Gordy then pointed his Black Diamond Chassis towards the front in the 40-lap main event, as he steered past eight competitors en route to a sterling fourth place effort behind only winner Brian Shirley, Brandon Sheppard, and Jason Feger!

(July 3, 2018) The UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals tour heated back up tonight at Clarksville Speedway in Clarksville, Tennessee, as a $5,000 winner's check was up for grabs. Gordy Gundaker knocked down the third quickest time in his group during qualifying prior to running to second in heat race action. After rolling off from the inside of the third row in the 40-lapper and advancing up to third in the running order, Gordy slipped back to sixth in the final rundown behind only victor Tanner English, Brian Shirley, Allen Weisser, Jason Feger, and Rusty Schlenk!

(July 1, 2018) Tonight's "Hell Tour" program at Lincoln Speedway in Lincoln, Illinois was washed out during the afternoon by rain showers. The $5,000 to win contest has been rescheduled for Monday, July 9.

(June 30, 2018) Another $10,000 top prize was on the line in a UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals and World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series co-sanctioned shootout tonight at Federated Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Missouri. Gordy Gundaker laid down the seventh quickest lap in Group B during the qualifying session and later ran second in his loaded heat race. After starting the 50-lap main event from the outside of the fourth row, Gordy put forth an impressive effort against the national touring stars and eventually earned a seventh place performance!

(June 29, 2018) The UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals and World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series co-sanctioned a $10,000 to win clash tonight at the sprawling Terre Haute Action Track in Terre Haute, Indiana. Gordy Gundaker timed in fifth fastest in his group during the qualifying session prior to running fifth in heat race action. Gordy later rolled off from the inside of the eighth row in the 30-lap feature event before winding up fourteenth in the final finishing order at the Hoosier State speedplant.

(June 28, 2018) The next race on the "Hell Tour" grind for the #11 team came tonight at LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, Illinois. A strong field of 34 entrants were in the pit area tonight at the 1/4-mile oval to race for the $5,000 winner's check. Gordy Gundaker knocked down the ninth quickest time in Group B during qualifying before placing third in his loaded heat race. Gordy then started the 40-lapper from the inside of the sixth row and was up to fifth in the running order before a late race restart caused him to get bottled up on the outside. The St. Charles, Missouri ace wound up slipping back to tenth at the unfurling of the checkered flag.

(June 26, 2018) Tonight's UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals program scheduled for Charleston Speedway in Charleston, Illinois has been cancelled due to heavy morning rain and a high chance for more wet weather. No makeup date for the $5,000 to win event was immediately announced.

(June 25, 2018) The "Hell Tour" stormed back into the Land of Lincoln tonight for the rain-postponed stop at Spoon River Speedway in Banner, Illinois. 23 competitors drove through the pit gate to vie for the $5,000 first place prize. Gordy Gundaker started off his evening by posting the fifth quickest lap in his group during qualifying and finishing fourth in heat race action. Gordy then moved past two competitors during the 40-lap shootout at the high-banked, 3/8-mile racetrack to score another tenth place effort.

(June 24, 2018) Next up on the "Hell Tour" schedule was a visit to Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Indiana tonight for a $5,000 to win battle. With heat races scrapped due to impending thunderstorms, Gordy Gundaker locked himself into the outside of the fifth row for the start of the 40-lap main event after qualifying fourth quickest in his group. The St. Charles, Missouri ace fought hard for the a top ten finish at the pristine southwestern Indiana facility and eventually netted a tenth place performance.

(June 23, 2018) Another $10,000 payday was up for grabs on the "Hell Tour" tonight in front of the loyal fan base at Fairbury American Legion Speedway in downtown Fairbury, Illinois! Gordy Gundaker knocked down the sixth quickest lap in Group A during qualifying before securing the third transfer position through his heat race. After starting the 50-lap feature distance from the inside of the sixth row, Gordy wound up finishing right where he started... in the eleventh spot.

(June 22, 2018) Mother Nature finally gave a reprieve to the UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals tour tonight, but several days of heavy rain through the Land of Lincoln left Tri-City Speedway with a rough, hammer-down racing surface. At the Granite City, Illinois oval, Gordy Gundaker qualified seventh fastest in Group A during time trials before finishing third in heat race action. After starting the rugged $10,000 to win headliner from the inside of the fifth row, Gordy survived the 40-lapper to finish in the seventh position.

(June 21, 2018) Thursday's scheduled $5,000 to win "Hell Tour" shootout at Spoon River Speedway in Banner, Illinois has shifted to Monday, June 25 because of wet grounds and a rainy forecast. The next UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals showdown will be Friday, June 22 at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois where a $10,000 payday will be up for grabs.

(June 20, 2018) The 'Wildman Kelly Classic' took center stage tonight at Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville, Illinois, as another $5,000 top prize was on the line for the cars and stars racing with the UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals tour. Gordy Gundaker timed in fourth quickest in his group during qualifying and later grabbed the fifth and final transfer spot through his heat race. Unfortunately, storms blew through the area following the completion of heat race action and postponed the remainder of the program. A makeup date to complete the event is expected to be announced later...

(June 19, 2018) Tonight's UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals stop at the tiny Belle-Clair Speedway in Belleville, Illinois was washed out following the completion of time trials. No makeup date for the $5,000 to win program was immediately announced.

(June 17, 2018) The first week of the grueling "Hell Tour" wrapped up tonight with a visit to Plymouth Speedway in Plymouth, Indiana. Gordy Gundaker qualified third quickest in his group during time trials before running third in heat race action. Gordy then started the $5,000 to win headliner from the outside of the fourth row, but unfortunately slid back five spots during the 40-lap contest to finish thirteenth in the final rundown.

(June 16, 2018) Next up on the UMP Summer Nationals grind was a visit to the pristine Dirt Oval at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Illinois where another $10,000 winner's check was up for grabs. Gordy Gundaker stopped the clock eighth quickest in his group during qualifying prior to finishing fifth in his loaded heat race. After starting fifteenth on the grid in the 30-lapper, Gordy had a top ten run going until his air cleaner came loose due to a broken stud, which forced him to retire in the eighteenth position.

(June 15, 2018) The third leg of the UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals was held earlier this evening at Sycamore Speedway in Maple Park, Illinois and a $10,000 payday was on the line. In the richest Super Late Model event ever at the 55-year old facility, Gordy Gundaker clicked off the fourth fastest lap in Group B during qualifying and later ran second in heat race action. The St. Charles, Missouri ace then started the 55-lap main event from the outside of the fourth row before working his way up to the sixth finishing spot behind only victor Shannon Babb, Billy Moyer, Ryan Unzicker, Devin Gilpin, and Brian Shirley!

(June 14, 2018) Night two of the "Hell Tour" featured a complete $5,000 to win program at Kankakee County Speedway in Kankakee, Illinois. Gordy Gundaker laid down the fourth quickest lap in his group during time trials prior to finishing fourth in his loaded heat race. Gordy then started the 40-lap main event from the outside of the fifth row before knocking down a solid top ten effort at the 1/4-mile fairgrounds oval, as he finished the contest in the ninth position.

(June 13, 2018) The 2018 edition of the UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals tour kicked off tonight at Peoria Speedway in Peoria, Illinois and the #11 team was in attendance to do battle for the $5,000 paycheck. Gordy Gundaker posted the eighth quickest time in Group B during qualifying before grabbing the fourth and final transfer spot through his heat race. After starting the 40-lapper from the outside of the eighth row, Gordy was involved in a lap 35 incident with Mike Spatola and was officially placed fifteenth in the final finishing order of the "Hell Tour" lid lifter.

On Friday night at Granite City, Gordy placed fourth in his heat race prior to advancing four spots in the 30-lapper to finish in the eighth spot. At Fayette County on Saturday evening, Gordy ran fourth again in his heat race, while he later moved up to seventh in the final finishing order of the 40-lap headliner.
