GGR Welcomes Dooling Machine Products; Unveils 2020 Season Plans

Only about a month removed from his 2019 season finale in the 'Gateway Dirt Nationals,' which saw Gordy Gundaker record a pair of impressive top five feature performances in the indoor spectacular, details are emerging concerning plans for the second-generation racer in 2020. Gordy will be joined by his younger brother Trevor Gundaker in competing full-time in Super Late Model events across the Midwest. From local shows to DIRTcar Summer Nationals specials and even select Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series races in the area, it will be a very busy season for the #11 team.

Weather pending, Gordy plans to unload his potent Black Diamond Chassis for the first time in 2020 on March 27-28 in the annual 'Thaw Brawl' at Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, Iowa. The MARS Dirt Car Series will preside over all of the dirt-slinging action in the biggie in the Hawkeye State, which culminates with a $12,000 to win headliner on Saturday evening, March 28. Gundaker Earns Pair of Top Fives in Season-Ending Gateway Dirt Nationals!

The 2019 campaign for the #11 team wrapped up from December 19-21 during the annual running of the 'Gateway Dirt Nationals' at The Dome at America's Center in downtown St. Louis, Missouri. A strong field of 86 competitors piled into the indoor facility to compete in the Dirt Late Model portion of the three-day spectacular, which kicked off on Thursday with qualifying. Sporting a throwback scheme dedicated to his father Kevin Gundaker, Gordy Gundaker timed in twelfth fastest in Group B prior to finishing second in his heat race and fifth in Friday's $5,000 to win preliminary feature.

On Saturday evening in front of the huge crowd, Gordy was unfortunately wrecked in his B-Main, but later received a provisional to gain access into the $30,000 to win grand finale. After rolling off from the outside of the tenth row in he 40-lap headliner, the St. Charles, Missouri ace steered his ride past fifteen competitors en route to a stellar fifth place performance behind only victor Tyler Carpenter, Brandon Sheppard, Billy Moyer, and Jonathan Davenport! Gordy Gundaker on the Podium in Modified Mania Opener

The Gordy Gundaker Racing (GGR) team ventured to the nearby Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois from September 26-28 for the annual running of 'Modified Mania,' which also featured a trio of shows for the Super Late Models. On Thursday night in the weekend opener that boasted a $3,000 winners check, Gordy Gundaker earned Fast Time honors during qualifying, won his heat race, and led the first three circuits of the 30-lap main event before winding up third and on the podium behind only victor Bobby Pierce and runner-up Brian Shirley!

At the St. Louis-area facility on Friday evening in a similar $3,000 to win program, Gordy placed third in his heat race before moving up to eighth in the final finishing order of the 30-lapper. In Saturday's $5,000 to win weekend finale, Gordy ran fourth in his stacked heat race and was able to climb past a couple of competitors during the 40-lap affair to nab a ninth place performance. Gundaker Enters 49th Annual World 100 at Eldora Speedway

The GGR Motorsports team invaded the hallowed ground of Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio from September 5-7 for the 49th edition of the fabled 'World 100.' The three-day crown jewel extravaganza in the Buckeye State started with a pair of $10,000 to win Twin 25 preliminary programs. On Thursday evening in the weekend lid lifter, Gordy Gundaker ran ninth in his heat race and seventh in his B-Main, which unfortunately kept him out of the 25-lap sprint. A similar story was told on Friday night at the 1/2-mile, high-banked speedplant, as Gordy once again missed out on his 25-lapper after running ninth in his heat race and seventh in his consolation event.

A whopping $52,000 top prize was then up for grabs at the "Big E" on Saturday, as a record crowd gathered to witness the culmination of the annual 'World 100.' The St. Charles, Missouri ace finished tenth in his stacked heat race and sixteenth in his B-Main, which did not allow Gordy to transfer into the 100-lap headliner that was ultimately won by Jonathan Davenport. Gordy Gundaker Grabs Top Five in Thursday Stop at Granite City!

Gordy Gundaker and his #11 GGR Motorsports team made a visit to Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois on Thursday evening, August 29 for a $2,000 to win UMP DIRTcar Super Late Model battle. Gordy was quick right out of the box, as he laid down the fastest lap in his group during time trials before placing second in his heat race behind only prelim winner Tony Jackson, Jr. In the "Thursday Night Thunder" main event at the St. Louis-area facility, Gordy started from the inside of the third row and officially wound up fifth at the unfurling of the checkered flag behind only victor Jackson, Jr., Billy Moyer, Tim Manville, and Allen Weisser! Gundaker Nabs Top Ten Showing in Dirt Million Prelim at Mansfield

The Mansfield Motor Speedway was the epicenter of the Dirt Late Model world on August 22-24, as the Mansfield, Ohio speedplant played host to the 2nd edition of the 'Dirt Million.' The crown jewel showdown in the Buckeye State was once again sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and got underway with a pair of $10,000 to win duels. Gordy Gundaker wound up twentieth in the final finishing order of Thursday's 30-lap opener due to a broken motor mount, while he landed a solid tenth place performance in Friday night's 30-lapper. The St. Charles, Missouri ace then finished fourth in his loaded heat race and third in his B-Main on Saturday evening prior to experiencing problems in the Non-Qualifiers Race, which led to a disappointing fifteenth place showing. Unfortunately, Gordy was not able to find a way into the 100-lap 'Dirt Million' main event, which carried a $101,626 top prize and was eventually won by Brandon Sheppard. Gordy Gundaker Suffers Mechanical Trouble Leading at Granite City

Gordy Gundaker and his #11 team returned to action on Friday night, August 16 at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois. The MARS Racing Series rolled into the St. Louis-area venue to preside over a $3,000 to win shootout. Gordy earned Fast Time honors during the qualifying session and later picked up the victory in heat race action. After rolling off from the pole position and leading the first eighteen circuits of the 30-lap headliner, Gordy unfortunately broke a driveshaft on lap 19 and was forced to retire in the eleventh finishing position. Not only did the rear-end issues cost him a probable win, but the damage also kept him out of Saturday's similar show at Federated Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Missouri. Gundaker an Impressive Fifth in $30,000 Prairie Dirt Classic!

Next up on the racing calendar for Gordy Gundaker was a visit to Fairbury Speedway in downtown Fairbury, Illinois on July 26-27 for the 30th edition of the 'Prairie Dirt Classic,' which was once again sanctioned by the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series. A total of 72 cars converged at FALS over the weekend for the mega-event that boasted a $30,000 winner's check. On Friday night, Gordy timed in seventeenth fastest in Group A prior to charging up to fourth in his $2,500 to win qualifying feature event to grab the final transfer spot behind only prelim winner Brandon Sheppard, Dennis Erb, Jr., and Boom Briggs. Gordy Gundaker Lands Top Ten in Lucas Oil Visit to Granite City

Fresh off his tremendous weekend on the "Hell Tour," which resulted in a pair of impressive victories, Gordy Gundaker battled the cars and stars of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series on July 11-12 in a doubleheader at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois. On Thursday night in the $12,000 to win weekend opener, Gordy ran fifth in his stacked heat race, won his B-Main, and later climbed seven spots in the 50-lapper to claim a respectable eleventh place showing. In the $12,000 to win finale on Friday evening at the St. Louis-area venue, Gordy placed second in his heat race and battled hard for a top five effort in the headliner before a late race restart dropped him back to eighth in the final finishing order of the 50-lap affair. The DIRTcar Summer Nationals tour rolled into Fayette County Speedway in Brownstown, Illinois tonight, as a $7,500 winner's check was on the line for the #11 team. Gordy Gundaker, who won the last two nights during "Hell Tour" action, posted the third fastest time in his group during qualifying and later advanced up to second in his heat race. After starting the 50-lap main event from the inside of the third row, Gordy blasted up to third during the headliner to land on the podium behind only victor Bobby Pierce and runner-up Mike Marlar.

(July 5, 2019) For the second night in a row, Gordy Gundaker emerged victorious in a thrilling DIRTcar Summer Nationals battle in the Land of Lincoln - this time at Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, Illinois! Gordy laid down the fastest time in his group during qualifying and won his heat race in preliminary action. After starting the 50-lapper from the outside of the front row, Gordy once again drove the bottom groove to perfection in the headliner and raced for the lead with Shannon Babb over the final ten circuits. The St. Charles, Missouri ace then came out on top of a spirited last lap shootout with the #18 by throwing a mean slider in turns three and four and beating Babb, Bobby Pierce, Brian Shirley, and Kent Robinson to the checkered flag to claim the $10,000 top prize!!! (July 4, 2019) Gordy Gundaker, of St. Charles, Missouri, claimed his second straight 'Herald & Review 100' title in thrilling fashion tonight at the mighty Macon Speedway in Macon, Illinois! After timing in third fastest in his group during DIRTcar Summer Nationals qualifying and running second in his heat race, Gordy placed sixth in the fast dash to earn the outside of the third row for the start of the 100-lap mega-event. Gordy then ran the bottom of the 1/5-mile oval to perfection late in the race to advance up to the second spot. A lap 99 caution flag set up a late restart and "The G Man" was able to make a perfect last lap around the hub to pass leader Bobby Pierce to grab the win and the $5,000 payday! (June 29, 2019) The busy week for Gordy Gundaker wrapped up tonight at Highland Speedway in Highland, Illinois, as the DIRTcar Summer Nationals tour presided over a $10,000 to win shootout. Gordy knocked down the seventh quickest lap in Group B during qualifying prior to grabbing the fourth and final transfer spot through his heat race. The St. Charles, Missouri native then started fourteenth on the grid in the 50-lapper and was up inside of the top ten when he was deemed at fault for a yellow flag, which meant that he was put to the tail of the field. Maintaining his innocence in the on-track skirmish, Gordy opted to pull pitside for the night and was paid for a twentieth place showing.

(June 28, 2019) The #11 team was back at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois tonight, as a weekly show was held and a $1,200 top prize was up for grabs. Gordy Gundaker won his heat race in preliminary action and later started the main event from the pole position. The St. Charles, Missouri ace then ran strong throughout the feature distance and eventually landed in the runner-up spot behind only victor Daryn Klein!

(June 25, 2019) Gordy Gundaker Racing rejoined the "Hell Tour" tonight with a visit to Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois for a rain-postponed showdown, which boasted a $7,500 paycheck. Gordy Gundaker timed in fourteenth fastest in Group B during qualifying before finishing seventh in his loaded heat race. After eventually utilizing a provisional to gain access into the 40-lap feature, Gordy stayed out of trouble on the rugged racing surface and crossed underneath the checkers in the ninth finishing position.
